Welcome! Bienvenido! Willkommen!

Greetings dear readers,

Many welcomes! I have been in need of a public forum in which to display my written word. It is an eclectic collection of thoughts, characters, my inner wonders and my stupid questions. Some of it will be simple descriptive prose, some ranting diatribes, and maybe even some intelligent personal conversation.

The decision to start this blog project (an endeavor I've attempted before with limited success) was simple. A blog is incredibly more usable and findable than Facebook. Coming up with a name for it, however, was a difficult and brain-melting process ("the mental brawling of a brain-washed beggar" being one example) involving a glass of rum and my father, who was quite unsuccessful in hiding his mirth at my antics. I spent a good hour and a half pacing the kitchen playing word games with myself, gesticulating wildly, and looking, to any outside eye, much like an escaped patient from one of those lovely padded rooms. I wonder if it's like those bouncy castles... Anyway, I came up with some good ideas, some not so good ideas, some downright offensive ones, and a few keepers.

For your perusal and entertainment, here are a few of those that didn't make the final cut:

The Wrong End of the Kaleidoscope -- Everything Upside-down and Backwards (credit goes to my Dad for this Lewis Carroll-inspired title)
The Far Side of the Paper
Ink Flows from Both Ends
My Pen is a Pogo Stick -- The Words Just Jump Out at Me (Finalist)
Socratic Inveigler
Melded to my Pen
Omnipotent Dependent -- God Crashes on my Couch
Pen of Damocles
A Penny for my Pen (Finalist)
My Head is a Cave of Witless Wonders
The Fox's Bark

My brother added his own suggestion.  #fedora He has issues against my wearing a fedora for any occasion. I disagree, clearly, but I rather liked the idea. I'll use it in a story because he wanted to be published. Sweet little tyke, isn't he?

I will update every Thursday with the week's verbal sketches, thought experiments, ruminations, and short stories. I hope you read them and are entertained, provoked, insulted, enlightened. It means I'm succeeding.

Happy travels through my warped world.

  1. Love the new forum, Hap! Can you allow access to the ones that didn't make the cut?
